2009 Applications
Missouri Receives Millions for High-Speed Rail Projects
Missouri was awarded $31 million for high-speed rail projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These funds will be used to build capacity and reliability on the St. Louis to Kansas City rail corridor. High speed rail applications receiving approval include all three Track 1a projects listed below. The award will also fund preliminary engineering on all Track 1b projects except the 3rd mainline track in the Jefferson City yard. Real-time passenger information displays were also not funded.
MoDOT's 2009 HSIPR Preapplications
Preapplications for high speed rail funds for the Union Pacific route between St. Louis and Kansas City were filed by MODOT on July 6, 2009 with the Federal Railroad Administration. The preapplications give a very general outline of each project proposed which were then further refined in a later final application for each project.
