Northeast District Adopt A Highway
Trash Stat: More than $1.5 million is spent each year picking up trash along Missouri highways.
There are more than 500 adopters in the Northeast District who help maintain and beautify our roadsides. There are, however, many more areas that need adopted. We have listed by county some of the state highways that have availability. You can also email our Adopt A Highway Coordinator, Laura White, with your questions, or call our toll-free number at 1-888-275-6636 (1-888 ASK MODOT).
Need activity cards to report your cleanup? Email laura.white@modot.mo.gov or report online.
Featured Adopter of the Month
The Nemes Family
Section of Highway: MO 79 just south of Hannibal near Lover's Leap, Sawyer's Creek and Mark Twain Cave
As a family, this is the first time the Nemes' have picked up as adopters. "Growing up I was responsible for mowing our yard, and being along a highway, I had to clean up the trash before I mowed...it always upset me to know that people just throw trash out the car window!" Ms. Nemes said. If your group would like to be featured here, send us a picture (email laura.white@modot.mo.gov) with some information about your group. Thank you for participating in the Adopt A Highway program!
